Who are we?
Jon and Donna Terpstra were married in 1982 and have raised four children. Jon is a man of many gifts and talents using his hands… if it’s broken, he can fix it! Donna’s life work has revolved around administrative and teaching venues.
The Lord placed a burden upon their hearts to assist the less fortunate and after various ministry trips, the Words of Jesus were much closer to their hearts: Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13.
These words of Jesus have taught that as He laid down His life for ours, we also, are to lay down our lives for Him…..and so, after many trips to Africa, Jon, Donna and their youngest son Eli moved to Nigeria in 2009 and lived there. The focus of the work was bringing life and hope to the people. The purpose of this website is to share of the work and to connect with others who would like to be a part of bringing hope.
TerpstrasInAfrica, Inc (TIA) is the name assigned to the charitable work of our travels to Africa and assisting the people there. We are an all-volunteer organization, having no paid staff. Personal resources and donations from the general public provide the resources to continue this work. We are a registered non-profit corporation in the State of Michigan and have been granted 501c3 charitable designation for tax deductible giving. For more information on giving click here.
